Team Houston Honored Hero – Nathan Miller
Hi, my name is Nathan Miller and I am 15 years old. I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in second grade. I have felt weak and tired almost constantly, suffered severe intestine pain and taken steroids for 7 years, which stunted my growth and caused other health issues.
As I write this, I have just left the hospital after another lengthy stay. Last year, I had my colon removed in a surgery that was the last option after years of meddling with numerous medications that failed. I felt this would be the end goodbye to this despicable disease, at last, for me a light at the end of the tunnel. Now, last week, I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease in my remaining intestine. I hate this disease!
I am excited about Team Challenge because it is raising both awareness and money towards a cure for Crohn’s and Ulcerative Colitis. I have met several people going through the same thing I am. I do not let my disease prevent me from being active as I am involved in sports, music and academics with success. I love math and science and hope to go to Stanford and be a physicist one day.
He will give you the motivation & inspiration you need
