“WHERE DO I BEGIN?”

  • Web Pages & Letter Writing:
    • Let your friends and family know what our mission is.  It is just as important let them know where every dollar goes. Give them statistics and let them know that over 83 cents of every dollar earned goes directly towards much needed research.
    • Make it personal- tell your story (why are you doing this, how is this important to you and your honored hero...)
    • A picture is the best motivation to get those donations rolling in!  It helps make your page that much more personal.
    • Put the “ask” out there to everyone you have ever emailed!  Go through all of your contact lists and send those emails out!
    • Make sure your URL (www.active.com/donate/lv09florida/yourpersonallink) is in every form of communication that you send to people so they can donate!
    • Include information on how people can send you checks or money orders.
    • Include due dates of when your donations need to be in by so people know there is a deadline.
    • Thank you notes go a long way, do not forget to thank everyone!
    • Make it fun and inviting!

Great ways to fundraise:

  • Contact everyone you know. Even if you have not talked to that friend for a while, it's never too late to reach out to a friendship.
  • Ask your family and friends to help you fundraise and get the word out.
  • You will be surprised by how many people will help you with your fundraising goal; you will even receive donations from people you may not know. Just remember to thank them. Take your fundraising letter with wherever you go -- you never know when you'll get an opportunity.
  • Ask the people you work with for help.
  • Try a combination of fundraising ideas, including a raffle, a fundraising letter, online fundraising, a party, corporate involvement, etc...
  • Start fundraising now! The earlier you start, the more you will raise.
  • Donate to yourself. When people know you have made a donation to yourself they will feel very comfortable helping you.
  • Last but not least -- if you don't ask, you won't receive!  Why not start today?

Don’t let the recession stop you from fundraising or get you down! Millions of IBD patients and their families need your help because unlike the likelihood that the economy will get better, patients live their whole lives feeling uncertain that they will ever get better. As a Team Challenge participant you’ve signed on to better the cause despite the economy. We know that your upbeat attitude and compassion will help keep our patients going!
