Honored Teammates
For every race, Team Illinois recognizes special individuals who have personal struggles with Crohn's or ulcerative colitis. We can also recognize personal heroes of your choice. Train in honor of our selected Honorees or your personal hero. Below are the honorees for the 2011 Las Vegas Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon.

Kyle was diagnosed with Colitis in 2006. Since his diagnosis, he has endured countless visits to the doctor, painful medical procedures, and chronic pain. Through it all, Kyle has been dedicated to sharing his story with others while cheering on Team Challenge Illinois participants at practices. After we asked him to be our honoree again this year, he jumped up and down with joy! Kyle likes to make drawings and personalized cards for participants and also likes to talk at our information meetings. He loves to play video games, legos, and baseball.

Ally has had Crohn’s disease since 2001 when she was 11 years old. During high school, she had several surgeries related to her Crohn’s, including one that was due to her colon perforating, resulting in a temporary colostomy, which would allow her colon to heal. Before finding quality medical care, her case of Crohn’s almost killed her.
Ally has helped write land pass egislation that would allow anyone with a medical emergency access to an employee-only restroom. She testified before a committee where it passed unanimously, just as it later did in the Illinois House and Senate. It was signed into law in August 2005 as the Restroom Access Act, more commonly known as “Ally’s Law.” To read more about Ally and "Ally's Law" click here.
