Allison's story

Allison

In Her Own Words . . .

Hi!! My name is Allison Kay Narro. I just turned 11 years old. I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis when I was about 18 months old. I got the Rhoda virus when I was 9 months old and that is when it all started. I haven’t had it bad until now. I am in the middle of a Flare up and its been going on since before Thanksgiving. This has been my worst one yet. Not to worry, I will beat this one.

I love to dance and have been dancing since I was two. I started competing when I was 6 and have been since. I think I might quit competing next year because I am going to start middle school. I worry about not having enough time for homework. I will still continue to dance just a couple of hours a week.

I love to ski! My uncle Allen is a very good skier and skied in the Handicap Ski Races at Winter Park when he was younger. I look up to him because he didn’t let his Handicap stop him and I won’t either.

Now, a little bit about my family. I live with my Mom and Dad, my sister, Jessica, my brothers Jeremy and Austin. We live in Aurora, CO but hopefully in the next two years we will be moving to the Kiowa/Bennett area, that’s where my horse is and she is getting ready to have a foal in March. My mom and I started to learn Barrel Racing but stopped when we found out my horse was pregnant. We will start racing again this summer.

I want to thank you for doing this marathon. It means a lot to me and CCFA is so special to me! I went to my first camp last summer and it was GREAT. I met so many kids that have the same disease as me and now I don’t feel so alone. It’s nice to go to camp and not be afraid of something embarrassing happening. Everyone at camp understands what I’m going through, it’s nice to be able to talk to other kids that really, really understand.

I hope with the money raised, a cure can be found.

Thank you,

Allison Narro
