Team Challenge Honored Heros

The Southwest Chapter has four inspirational Honored Heros who our Team Challenge volunteers are running or walking in honor of.  Each of the four amazing individuals is affected by Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis.

Here are their stories....

Harrison
 age 6
Honored Hero

Harrison was diagnosed with Crohn's disease

"I was born on Valentines' Day in 2002.  My favorite color is blue, the same color as my eyes.  My favorite sport is football and I LOVE the Arizona Cardinals.  I like to read and play video games and like vanilla pudding.  I have three dogs: Symba, Chelsea, and Lucky."

Amara
age16
Amara Healthy

Amara was diagnosed with Crohn's disease in December of 2006
"People say life is an endless road: sometimes smooth, sometimes curvy, and at other times bumpy. Crohn’s disease has made my road do all of that. But it has also helped me develop an incredible belief in myself, an enormous amount of perseverance, and has inspired me to make a difference in the world. So, why would a disease inspire me? It’s simple: because of my disease, I have a purpose in life; because of my disease, I have learned to survive and to give back to others; because of my disease, I can share my story and help others rise above their illness; because of my disease, I can help raise awareness and funds to find a cure for this devastating illness."
