As a longtime runner with a few marathons and a lot of 5k's under my hydration belt, I was ready to diversify my ability and attempt a Triathlon. Joining TC Tri was the BEST decision I could've made in this new adventure. The coaches are very encouraging even for us beginners. My confidence grew with each passing week of training with the physical aspects along with the mentors inspiring weekly words. A dear friend introduced me to Team Challenge and now I am hooked. The sense of camaraderie is like having your own personal cheering section. The swimming portion of the tri made me the most nervous but the coaches were sure to take time to instruct on even the basics for technique. Easing from the pool exercises to open water was a swift transition as the coaches chose safe 1st-timer friendly areas in the San Diego bay. On race day, I had zero anxiety towards jumping right in. Coach Skip even prepared us for the water crowding at the start of the race which would have completely thrown off my rhythm had I not been trained for that. Thank you Team Challenge Tri! See you next year!

Team Challenge changed my life! I don't personally know anyone with Crohn’s, but it opened my eyes to a disease that many people aren't familiar with, yet affects so many. At first, I didn't think I could do any of it- swim, bike, run, and raise money for CCFA...No way! But then I remembered, if you can dream it, you can do it! Through the support, encouragement, and friendship from the coaches, staff, and teammates of Team Challenge, I grew so much as an athlete, but more importantly, as a person. I met incredible people along the way that truly inspired me with their courage. I grew such a sense of hope, a hope that there will one day be a cure, and that nothing is impossible if you have passion!

I have now completed 2 sprint triathlons through the Team Challenge Program. The training that they provide is beyond spectacular! There were many individuals on the team who could barely swim, barely bike or barely jog. The coaches worked with them week after week and it was incredible to see these "non athletes" complete the race! And I was amazed at myself....learning to swim in open water was quite the experience! The camaraderie of the teammates is very special and the feeling of accomplishment is beyond words. Most important, raising money for CCFA is what this is all about. While I have a personal interest as my son has had Crohn's disease for 23 years, half of the members of the team had no close affiliation. These are the heroes....as they worked so hard on behalf of those affected by Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. And if you ask them, I am sure they will tell you how rewarding it was for them to help this cause. Hope all of you join Team Challenge for CCFA!
